SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old woman died following an accident involving a minibus and two motorcycles on the Tampines Expressway (TPE) towards the Pan-Island Expressway on Monday morning (20 February).
Malay broadsheet newspaper Berita Harian reported that Yasmin Abdullah was on her way to work, riding on the motorbike of her husband Muhammad Zahid Abdul Gaffar, 29. The couple were married just three weeks ago at Orchid Country Club.
Zahid was conscious at the time of the accident, but Yasmin was not. They were conveyed to Changi General Hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force, where Yasmin ultimately succumbed to her injuries
Meanwhile, the other motorcyclist involved and the minibus driver did not need medical attention. According to the Straits Times, the minibus driver was arrested for careless driving causing death, while the motorcyclist was assisting in investigations.

She succumbed to her injuries, husband in stable condition

According to Berita Harian, the autopsy report stated Yasmin died from various injuries. Zahid suffered similar injuries, but managed to survive.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, his sister said he was in stable condition in the hospital.
Yasmin's father told Berita Harian that the wedding was the sweetest moment in his daughter's life, as she had always dreamed of getting married.
“She said she wanted to continue her studies and find a house after the wedding,” said the father.
He added that she had a diploma, but had to put further studies on hold due to Crohn’s disease, which is an inflammatory bowel condition.
Additionally, he said his son-in-law was a devoted husband who often sent his wife to work despite working at home.
As a dental assistant at a dental clinic on Upper East Coast Road for six years, Yasmin was remembered for being kind-hearted and friendly by her colleagues, reports Berita Harian.
Her body was buried on Tuesday at 4pm.
