yup. my good fren left last year. it is a highly bureaucratic organisation as compared to other ministries.

Mindef is already highly bureaucratic, uniform and hierarchical but at least they are out of the limelight. SPF is both.

SPF has become a political football by the incumbent.

Instead of passing judgement to censor or ban WP from parliament, the COP of parliament and Edwin Tong, senior counsel $2m p.a. lawyer, push SPF to investigate Raeesah Khan familee problems, like why her father not informed about her sexual assault case etc.

So police work also is disrespected by Singapore parliament, informally, SPF is now the hired hitmen for incumbent majority in parliament now.

Parliament also implies that judiciary is incompetent or biased, so cannot/ not competent to hear WP appeals; incase COP has passed judgement, which is the usual SOP for such cases, so wayang wayang and ask SPF do dirty work, as if justice is served.

Then how should judiciary later decide, that both SPF and COP both think WP is wrong, this is implicit pressure of judiciary to also agree with COP, just like the police, so because of the state media publicised a 2-0 result, probably the judiciary can only follow and be impressed with the emperor's New clothes, so 3-0 would be the final verdict; who can disagree with the emperor who by his SOP/manner, is basically telling each pillar of government, what they should do.

Then there is the PAP MP who are probably the spokesman for the corporates and must use every excuse to justify CEO high salary, like belittle themselves, show that CEO are much more powerful than PAP ministers, so just to saka or worship the CEO, poor PAP ministers have to increase regressive taxes, just so as to buy some decent, dignified clothes to gain audience and attention of CEOs if what they should plead, or of government policies they might need to beg the MNC CEOs to follow:-

"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals. Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity."

In a totalitarian regime, the police, media etc all work for the Party.

Daft Sinkies want an 'efficient' government... well, as the saying goes, be careful of what you wish for.
