Team Singapore has been presented the flag they will be flying at the 2012 London Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The team were presented the flag at a presentation ceremony at SingTel ComCentre.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also the President of the Singapore National Olympic Council, was there to present the flag and wish the team well.

Joining him was Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Chan Chun Sing.

Top women's table tennis player Feng Tianwei will carry the flag for Singapore at the Olympics, while swimmer Theresa Goh will do the honours at the Paralympics.

And with 18 athletes so far taking part in the Olympics, there is really just one medal that Chef-de-Mission Jessie Phua is aiming for.

"The medal I want to bring back from London is called belief. Athletes who believe in themselves, Singaporeans who believe in our athletes and really, really Singaporeans who believe in Singaporeans," she said.

Kana sai. That is because the only thing we are (maybe) going to get is a silver from a bunch of cheena FTs, and we need to BELIEVE that it is really a Singaporean effort.

Well done again KEE CHIU Chan and team

Why is there such an obsession to win sports medals to the point where we have to import FTs? What's the farking point? If the purpose is to promote sports in Singapore, the money should be spend on building more and better sports facilities which every citizen can access to easily.

The purpose is so that the second tier politicians can get some vicarious glory from these medals and report the victories to their bosses, the first tier politicians.
These first tier politicians will in turn have something to boast about when they meet their counterparts from other countries.

Because a healthy country will produce all-rounded citizens. Lack of medal winning citizens indicates a sick political system.

We should not be sending any athletes if there is not a slightest chance they will win a medal. Why waste citizens money to satisfy your personal ego?

"Oh... I competed in the 2012 London Games. And I improved on my personal best times." WTF. If you want to improve your personal best times but win no medals, please pay for your own games la.
