Serial tenant thief caught

POLICE arrested a 21-year-old man on Tuesday who is believed to have been involved in at least 10 cases of theft in homes around Singapore. The suspect would prey on victims advertising rooms for rent. Posing as a potential tenant, he would visit these units and once inside, would proceed to steal unattended items. It is also believed that the suspect stole from unattended bags in various shopping centres.
The suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Sun Plaza Shopping Centre off Sembawang Drive. Police recovered an array of items from the suspect, including two mobile phones, an iPod, a laptop, EZ-Link cards, credit and ATM cards, Singapore Identity Cards and work permits. The suspect will be charged in court on Wednesday.
