SINGAPORE: A 61-year-old unemployed man has been hauled to court for allegedly deceiving four people into parting with their money after convincing them that he had a daughter who needed medical help.
Andrew Yapp now faces four cheating charges involving S$400 in all.
He allegedly approached his victims at their homes between May 21 and November 23 claiming that he needed S$100 supposedly to pay for his daughter's medical fees.
It is believed he targeted senior citizens at places like Holland Close and Klang Lane near Little India.
Yapp, who appeared in court on Friday wearing a green surgical mask, will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health.
The slim and tanned elderly man will be back in court on December 10.
If convicted of cheating, he can be jailed up to ten years and fined for each charge.
