yah spot on. i remember when the current cdf was that indian guy and indian newspapers reported it. they damn focused on indian diaspora, regardless if the person is not indian citizen, doing well overseas.

(SAN FRANCISCO) Employees of Tata Consultancy Services, Asia's largest software services provider, who were sent to work in the US from India won a judge's permission to sue as a group over a wage dispute in California..........

Tata forced non-US citizen employees to sign over their federal and state tax refunds to the company and wrongfully deducted Indian salaries from their US compensation, the workers claim. The employees are charging Tata with breach of contract and violation of Californian labour laws............'

The ruling means the employees met requirements to sue as a group. The group still must prove their claims at trial...........

Tata deployed its employees on a temporary basis around the world, according to the ruling. Employees who were relocated to the US received additional compensation to their Indian salaries for living and other expenses.

In the case of one employee cited in the ruling, the annual Indian wage, paid in rupees, amounted to the equivalent of US$6,234. The worker received an additional US$35,484 to work in the US, taking the net pay to US$26,064 after taxes, medical premiums and other deductions, according to the ruling.

In none of the pay agreements did the employees authorise Tata to deduct their Indian wages from the US salary, the judge said.

Tata Consultancy had 226,751 employees as of Dec 31, according to its latest financial statement. -- Bloomberg
