SINGAPORE: A 28-year-old property agent admitted on Tuesday that he had targeted the homes of some of his former clients and broke into them to steal.

Besides housebreaking, Chen Guilin - who was known among netizens as Gary Ng - also pleaded guilty to forgery and possession of obscene films.

Chen had gained notoriety by posting on the internet homemade videos of himself engaged in sex.

He originally faced 21 charges but 13 were taken into consideration.

The property agent was found to have 507 obscene films in his possession.

Nearly all of them were homemade, showing Chen having sex with different women.

The slim, bespectacled man had uploaded some of these clips onto the internet with the women's faces masked.

Chen admitted that he had dishonestly made off with more than S$170,000 worth of cash and valuables.

He had broken into the homes of some of his former clients by duplicating the keys to the units.

In one such incident, Chen broke into an apartment at Water Place Condominium at Tanjong Rhu sometime between August 13 and 30, 2009.

He made off with items including some RM2,000, two credit cards and a portable television worth around S$600.

Chen also admitted to forging the signatures of two women to withdraw cash totalling more than S$90,000 from their bank accounts.

One of his victims was a former client, while the other, a friend of an ex-girlfriend.

Chen asked passersby to encash the forged cheques on his behalf between September 4 and December 4, 2008, in exchange for rewards of S$500 each.

This is to avoid being caught should the bank officers realise that the signatures had been forged.

He will be sentenced on January 19.

For forgery, he could be jailed up to 10 years and fined for each charge.

For housebreaking, he could be jailed a maximum of 10 years.

And for possessing obscene films, Chen could be jailed up to six months.

WHILE he was engaged in sex with different women, the intimate moments were filmed with a video camera hidden in a plastic bag with a slit.

Some women were willing parties for the filming, but others were filmed without their consent.

Chen Guilin, alias Gary Ng, then posted some of the video clips on the Internet with the women's faces masked.

The 28-year-old on Tuesday pleaded guilty to possessing 507 obscene films, of which more than 480 were clips of him having sex with various women.

The items were seized by police from his flat at Yishun Street 22 in June last year. The police also found another person's identity card in his flat.

The former property agent on Tuesday also admitted to seven other offences, including breaking into the home of his client while she was away, forgery and criminal breach of trust.

'Gary Ng' unmasked, and lawyer who brought him down

gary_ng_unmasked_and_lawyer_who_brought_him_down-thumbnail.jpg

He posted a slew of home-made sex videos online under the moniker 'Gary Ng', but Chen Guilin, 28, has now been unmasked with the help of a lawyer who used herself as bait.

Ms Yeo Poh Tiang, 30, contacted Chen through the Internet in June 2010. A few clients had previously approached her to help in recovering some debts from the person only known as 'Gary Ng'.

With the intention of exposing 'Gary Ng' in mind, Ms Yeo gained Chen's trust by communicating with him on MSN and even gave him her mobile phone number.

She was planning to ambush Chen by asking him out to dinner with promises of a 'tryst' afterwards. A female client would hide nearby and the police would be called once Chen's identity was confirmed. However, the ambush was called off and Ms Yeo and Chen never met in person.

Based on the information Ms Yeo had gathered, police arrested Chen at his Yishun home that night.

'Gary', whose name means 'Girls Always Remember You', pleaded guilty to eight charges on Tuesday (Jan 4). These included the possession of 507 obscene films, housebreaking, forgery, criminal breach of trust and the unlawful possession of another person's identity card.

Over 480 of the videos had been surreptitiously filmed while Chen was engaged in sex with different women. The former property agent, was bailed out by his family on Tuesday evening. He will be sentenced by a judge on Jan 19.

STOMPer YouGoGirl was enraged when she first heard about the 'Gary Ng' case, but is now relieved that he has been caught.

Said the STOMPer:

"Ms Yeo, you go girl! Kudos to you for helping arrest 'Gary Ng'!

"It's unbelievable that such a twisted person exists.

"I mean, he had no shame in even showing himself doing those sex acts.

"From his picture, he looks so prim and proper and he is still quite young.

"I feel sad for him but angry at his actions."

Women line up to bed Singapore casanova

OTHER NEWS & VIEWS
Compiled by P. ARUNA, SYLVIA LOOI and A. RAMAN

A NUMBER of women are “queuing up” to have sex with a Singaporean man after he posted recordings of him having sex with his female partners on his blog.

Apparently, these women wanted to “check out” Gary Ng’s skill in bed after seeing what he was capable of.

Sin Chew Dailysaid Ng, 28, was nicknamed Edison Chen after the Hong Kong heartthrob who was embroiled in a sex scandal two years ago which implicated a bevy of celebrities including Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan, Mandy Chen, Candice Chan, Rachel Ngan, Cecilia Cheung and Vincy Yeung.

However, Ng had been arrested after his 27-year-old girlfriend lodged a police report against him.

A female lawyer, who represented his girlfriend, had earlier worked with the police to trap Ng by pretending to be eager to sleep with him.

The lawyer revealed that Ng was a careful casanova.

“He would ask where I was staying and my place of work,” she said.

According to the daily, Ng would adopt a different personality to cheat women with different taste in men.

She went public last week on her dramatic attempt to ensnare 'Gary Ng', the 28-year-old who gained notoriety for his homemade sex videos with numerous women.

But lawyer Yeo Poh Tiang insists her entrapment attempt was not for fame, even though she admits that the media attention she sought could bring her more clients.

By Elena Chong

THE man dubbed Singapore's Edison Chen was sentenced to 50 months' jail and fined $20,000 on Wednesday for a series of offences.

Chen Guilin alias Gary Ng, 28, had admitted to having 507 obscene films, mostly of himself having sex with other women.

Some of the women were willing parties for the filming while others were not.

He had hidden a video camera in a plastic bag with a slit to film his acts and uploaded some on the Internet.

The former property agent had also pleaded guilty to four charges of forgery and one count each of housebreaking and theft, criminal breach of trust and unlawfully having another person's identity card.

He committed a total of 21 offences from 2006 to June last year involving property worth $171,770.

The prosecution had earlier urged the court to impose a heavy fine and at least four years' jail in view of the severe aggravating factors.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Paul Wong said Chen was a recalcitrant offender, and that all the offences were dishonest involving pre-planning and scheming.

Chen's lawyer Savliwala Din had told the court in mitigation that his client made no excuse for his wrongdoing.

He turned to crime when he could not earn enough money from his commissions as a real estate agent, he added.
