Salesman arrested for allegedly breaking glass

The glass panel outside electronics store Fuwell in Sim Lim Square that was broken after a salesman from the store allegedly kicked it.
For a moment, it sounded like a gun shot had gone off in Sim Lim Square mall.
And then, seconds later, a shower of glass fragments rained down on Mr Andy Tan's shop after a panel of glass, the size of a movie poster, shattered. He said: "It was a lot of glass that fell. There were some pieces that were about 10cm to 15cm in size, and a lot of other small pieces."
Mr Tan, 30, escaped getting hurt in the shower of glass but his colleague, Mr Chris Ang, 37, was hurt and sent to the hospital.
The shop where they worked, LJ Electronic, sells mobile phones and is located on the first floor. It does not have a ceiling.
The incident happened at around 1pm yesterday, after a salesman from Fuwell, an electronics store on the fourth floor of Sim Lim Square, allegedly kicked the glass panel railing outside his shop.
Shop owners on the fourth floor said they heard a loud noise and saw a crowd gathering around the broken glass panel.
When approached, Fuwell employees said that it was an "accident" and declined to comment further. A security guard in Sim Lim Square, who did not want to be named, said this was not the first time the salesman had allegedly kicked and broken a glass panel.
A similar incident happened last month but the salesman was not arrested and nobody was hurt, he added.
This time, however, one person got hurt. The security guard called the police, who arrested the 29-year-old salesman. Police said investigations are ongoing.
