THE six-month jail term handed down to prominent undertaker Roland Tay Hai Choon in May for theatening and hurting his former business partner was slashed to two months following his appeal to the High Court.
The 62-year-old, known for bearing the funeral costs of high-profile murder victims, will start serving his sentence in December after he goes for operations on his prostate and his knee.
Tay was involved in an altercation outside his funeral services company in Lavender Street in May 2007.
He swung a crowbar at his former businss partner, Mr Paul Wong Wah Suang, 54, and threatened to kill him. Three of Tay's employees had also joined in the fracas.
Two of them, Suresh Kannan Selvi, 35, and Marie Kelvin Mark, 34, who were initially each jailed for a month, had their sentence slashed to a $1,000 fine.
