Price not including airport taxes, etc

I noticed recently that all travel agents and even some airlines have reverted to the old practice of advertising prices of travels and fares WITHOUT the airport taxes and others. They are doing so quietly. Sometimes, they put an asterisk with a note that the fare is non-inclusive of the taxes, etc. Quite ridiculous!

They are also using copy like "from S$399"!! But when you try to book, they will include 'taxes & others' which can amount to more than S$200. They may as well use 'from S$1" for ALL the fares and trips!

I thought that sometime ago, CASE as well as the 4As (The Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Singapore) had mandated that all advertisements MUST show the full amount (must not 'hide') so that the consumer is informed of the full information?

Can anyone help to advise whether there has been a change in opinion or recommendation? Can anyone familiar with CASE or 4As comment?

As a consumer, we are all wasting our time rushing down to a vendor or exhibition to book a tour or fare based on the advertised price because the price does not tell the whole truth. Also, it confuses the consumer because the 'hidden' part of the offer means that it is impossible for a consumer to do a quick comparison between different vendors!
