</td> </tr> <tr><td colspan="3" class="bodytext_10pt"> <!-- CONTENT : start --> A syndicate led by Chinese nationals involved in making pirated and porn DVDs was busted in Malacca. Police arrested three Chinese nationals and seized 71,463 DVDs and equipment worth RM300,000 early Wednesday morning. State Police Chief SAC (I) Datuk Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof said the arrests and seizure was made during separate raids by the police's commercial crime division.
The first raid was carried out at about 1.15am at a double-storey semi-detached house in Kampung Lapan, Tengkera where, two Chinese men, aged 30 and 33, were arrested. A follow-up raid on an apartment in Taman Kenanga Mewah at about 3.30am resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old Chinese man. Police seized 14,137 pirated DVDs of various titles and another 3,326 pornographic DVDs. Besides this, 12 computers equipped with 89 DVD burners and 87 bottles of inks were seized.
The DVDs were meant for distribution in Malacca, Muar, Cameron Highlands and Penang. The syndicate could produce some 75 DVDs per minute at full operation.
