SINGAPORE: The lawyer of City Harvest Church said the hacking of singer Sun Ho's official website has been brought to the attention of the police.

Mr Desmond Ong said this in response to Channel NewsAsia's queries about the incident.

In a separate response, a church spokesman said a police report was filed on Monday afternoon.

Ms Ho is the wife of City Harvest Church founder Kong Hee.

Kong is standing trial along with five other leaders on charges of misusing church funds to further Ms Ho's singing career.

SINGAPORE : The official website of singer and City Harvest Church (CHC) co-founder, Ho Yeow Sun, has been hacked.

The hacker, who went by the name “The Messiah aka U.P”, threatened to expose Ho’s “hidden agenda” and warned of more attacks to come.

“You do not want to displease me any further, especially since I could be the second coming,” it said

The website, which also made reference to the corruption trial of six CHC leaders, has since been taken down.

It is alleged that Ho’s husband Kong Hee, Serina Wee Gek Yin, Tan Ye Peng, John Lam Leng Hung, Chew Eng Han and Sharon Tan Shao Yuen used approximately $24 million of church building funds to fund Ho's music career, and approximately another $26 million to cover their tracks.

While Ho is mentioned in the charges, she is not charged because she is not involved in the misappropriation of funds.

Sun Ho site hacker threatens to leak church member data

The hacker who vandalised the official website of City Harvest Church co-founder Sun Ho resurfaced on a new website and threatened to “leak CHC supporters personal information”.

SINGAPORE: The hacker who vandalised the official website of City Harvest Church (CHC) co-founder and pop singer Ho Yeow Sun, popularly known as Sun Ho, resurfaced on Wednesday on a new website and threatened to “leak CHC supporters personal information” and other “incriminating evidence” against Ms Ho’s husband, church co-founder Kong Hee.

In his message, posted on a website registered in Spain, the hacker -- who goes by the handle “The Messiah aka Ub3r Pr3ach3r” -- claimed he is a member of the Anonymous hacker collective and explained why he hacked Ms Ho’s website on Monday.

Six CHC leaders, including Kong, are facing corruption charges in an ongoing criminal trial.

The self-proclaimed hacktivist on Wednesday made several accusations against Kong, adding that he had also considered releasing the data of over 5,000 users registered on Ms Ho’s website but decided that it would be “too rash” an action for now -- although he would have “no problems doing so... when forced”.

On Monday morning, his message on Ms Ho’s hacked website accused the singer of having a “hidden agenda” and ended with the warning: “You do not want to displease me any further.”

City Harvest Church said it filed a police report on Monday afternoon, with Kong Hee calling that hack attack “particularly malicious”.

The six CHC leaders currently on trial are accused of misappropriating S$24 million of church funds via sham bonds issued by two companies, and for misappropriating a further S$26.6 million to cover up the first amount.

The money was allegedly spent on Ms Ho’s music career in the United States.

New threats by Ho Yeow Sun website hacker

SINGAPORE - THE hacker who broke into the official website of City Harvest Church co-founder and pop singer Ho Yeow Sun on Monday, popped up again on Wednesday with fresh threats.

Going by the moniker The Messiah, he said that any "incriminating evidence" he uncovers will be given to the public prosecutor.

He, however, did not say if the "evidence" would be for use in the ongoing trial of six City Harvest leaders, including Ms Ho's husband Kong Hee who is also the church's co-founder.

The hacker claims to be a member of the Anonymous collective, which is a worldwide group of so-called "digital Robin Hoods" that attack government, religious and company websites.

As for his earlier threat to make public the personal information of about 5,000 of the church's supporters, the hacker said yesterday he would hold off on it because "it might be a bit rash".

The church leaders are accused of having misused church funds, including using almost $50 million to finance Ms Ho's singing career in the United States.

Lawyers contacted on Wednesday, on whether the hacker's evidence is legitimate, said there is nothing to stop it from being used "just because it's illegally obtained".

Said lawyer Tan Hee Joek, a partner at Tan See Swan & Co: "Whether the evidence is relevant and credible is more important - it is not the means that matters, but the content."

The hacker's latest online statement, hosted on a Spanish domain, also urged the Singapore Government to "serve justice" to the church's leaders, who he claimed had exploited people.

Boasting about the ease with which he had broken into Ms Ho's servers and databases on Monday, the hacker claimed he gained access in just 15 minutes.

That is possible, said IT expert Terrence Tang, if the security measures in place are not watertight.

"Once the hacker obtains administrative privileges (for the server), he can basically get all the information stored on it," said Mr Tang, senior director of consumer business (Asia-Pacific Centre) at Trend Micro, an IT security company.

The church, which made a police report on Monday afternoon on the attack of Ms Ho's website, declined to comment on the hacker's latest move.
