Police operation nabs 78

POLICE arrested 78 people for various criminal offences in an operation that ended early on Thursday morning. The offences included illegal employment, immigration offences, vice, gang-related activities. Licensing breaches were also detected at some entertainment outlets. The Joint-Enforcement operation was led by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and were joined by officers from Central, Clementi, Tanglin, Bedok and Jurong Police Divisions.

They also joined forces with their counterparts from the Ministry of Ministry of Manpower, Central Narcotics Bureau and the Singapore Civil Defence Force. The teams conducted successive waves of enforcement checks at various public entertainment outlets located at Pearl's Centre, East Coast Park, Tuas and Joo Chiat.

Director of the CID, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Ng Boon Gay commended the officers for their efforts and team work in the successful operation. He said: 'There will be no let up in our enforcement actions against such illicit activities. We will continue to work closely with the various law enforcement agencies to keep our streets safe and secure.'
