Police arrest 4 men suspected of rioting with dangerous weapon

9 HOURS 25 MIN AGO

SINGAPORE — Police have arrested four men, aged between 24 and 29, who are believed to be involved in a case of rioting with dangerous weapon.

At about 1251am yesterday (July 6), Police were informed about a fight along Kaki Bukit Ave 3.

When they arrived, four male victims were found injured. The victims were sent to Changi General Hospital.

Officers from Bedok Police Division and Tampines Neighbourhood Police Centre investigated and quickly established the identities of the assailants.

The first suspect was picked up and arrested about seven hours later at about 745am.

The remaining three suspects were subsequently arrested by 2pm the same day — all within 24 hours of their crime.

The four suspects will be charged in court tomorrow for rioting with dangerous weapon. If convicted, they could be jailed up to 10 years and caned.

Commander of Bedok Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Mr Alvin Moh commended the officers for their swift actions in tracking down those involved in the riot.

He added, “Police take a serious view against lawless and violent behaviour in the public which affects the sense of safety and security in the community. Those who resort to violence and riotous behaviour in public shall be dealt with swiftly and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” CHANNEL NEWSASIA
