Talking of the rise and fall of nations, Pinoyland is a good example. The country was one of the most prosperous nations in Asia up to the early 70s. At that time Manila was the financial centre of Asia and bankers & computer professionals from Sinkapore have to go there for training. Good times will not last forever so let us pray that at least here it will last longer!

If you've worked with pinoys you will know they are very chinchai people. In a way it makes them friendly and non threatening. Excellent for customer facing roles. But for important tasks I will never rely on them. Their fun loving attitude will result in disaster.
This hostage rescue operation is just proof of my stereotyping.

If you are referring to the ladies, I agree with you.

But the guys can be nasty, esp when dealing with foreigners in their own country.

The problem is that the ladies often get sucked into the negative activities of the guys (husbands/boyfriends/lovers) and end up as perpetrators.

The Philippines is one place I never feel safe in and try to stay for as short as possible.

MANILA, Philippine – Hong Kong would not retaliate after Monday’s hostage crisis where eight of its people were killed, action superstar Jackie ChanJackie Chan said.

The actor said, “HK is a nation built by a lot of different people...don’t worry! We do not hate!” This statement was verified in his Twitter account.

“This kind of things always happens around the world. It happens to HK’s people. The whole HK is talking about it. It’s really sad.”

“If they killed the guy sooner, they will say why not negotiate first? If they negotiate first, they ask why not kill the guy sooner? So sad.”

As far as I know, Jackie Chan is no longer a representation of Hong Kong people. He is beginning to become a has been.

If jackie chan is a pinoy, he would be president there. He's got all the credentials required for the role - actor, womaniser, douchebag.

Aquino says sorry for the ‘smile’

MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III has apologized to those offended when he was caught on television apparently smiling while being interviewed at the crime scene hours after Monday’s bloody hostage-taking.

At a press conference in Malacañang, Aquino said his smile then was maybe just an "expression of exasperation rather than anything."

"My smile might have been misunderstood. I have several expressions. I smile when I'm happy, I smile when I'm faced with a very absurd situation...and if I offended certain people, I apologize to them,” he said.

"It's more of an expression maybe of exasperation rather than anything and again, I apologize if I offended certain people, who misunderstood (my) facial expression," he said.

quite obvious u've never been thru NS. the hijacker was armed with M16 (5.56mm caliber, optimal range 300m, maximum effective range ±400m). u use short arms to charge the bus, the hijacker will die laughing.

look it u who dont have common knowledge. It a closed up and full of hostages envoirment, it not advisable to use a rifle as the length of the rifle will impeded movement. The 5.56mm round of a M16 can pentrate a human body so even the polis successfully shot the hostage taker, the bullet will exit his body and accidently hit a hostage. So the best is to use a MP5 submachine gun and the Beretta pistol which both use the 9mm round.

seeing the pinoy polis use M16s and Colt.45 pistols make me confirm they are not specialised polis trained for hostage situations.

You see whether he can still smile or not when all Asian countries repatriate all pinoy maids back home.

Just because he is now the president of Philippines. Of course he can smile all he wanted. To see whether he can come out with doing good things for its people during his term will be another matter.

Wahlaneh. As my NS Day Pinoy CSM SSG Carlos puts it,
"You Cheebye {recruits} really got no Fucking Brains!"

Sama-Sama for these fucking cheebye pinoys posing camwhoring on the tragic bus.

Totally insensitive and idoitic to pose smilingly with an object of national shame.

Shame on you Stupid Pinoys! Shame Shame Shame!

You can argue that the students are young, stupid and/or ignorant.
But there is no excuse for policemen to be posing for pictures in front of a crime scene, where there were multiple casaulties.
The president and his entire cabinet need to apologise with bows on global tv to the whole world.
And he better not smile.

F@rk up @asholes. bloody LAME excuse whichis the most ridiculous explanation I ever heard coming from the head of state.
8 chinese killed through sheer incompetency and he still smiles like an !diot. his apology counts for nuts. if he cannot control his smirking face (or his cops) which is an affront and vulgar insult to all those killed and the HK people, he should quit and stop posing in front of cameras. He says he smiles all the time and has different "smiles". sure that means he was smiling when his father was gunned down in cold blood on the airport tarmac and surprisingly also no witness till today ???. sure he was smiling then based on his explanation. real vulgar smile and he actually looks quite happy on TV talking away.
remind me of Marcos and his wife, always smiling. no wonder the country is so poor and never learn from the marcos era. I'm sure China and HK would take retaliatory actions. the gunman is also a racist b@stard as he let his own filipino out but gunned the chinese in cold blood. remind me of the case where a politician warlord gunned down 50 over rivals and photographer and he still is not charged . go to hell and he deserves to be sacked and dishonoured.

Manila hijacking victim's link to Teesside
Aug 25 2010 by Emma Greenhalgh, Evening Gazette

ken-leung-358041617.jpg

THE 58-year-old managing director of an electronics firm with headquarters on Teesside has been killed on a hijacked bus in the Philippines.
Ken Leung, who ran the Asia arm of Stadium Group, based in Hartlepool, was killed during Monday’s tourist bus hijack in Manila.

His two daughters, believed to be aged 14 and 21, were also killed and his 18-year-old son was badly injured and left in intensive care.

Mr Leung, who travelled to Teesside on business, was on a family holiday at the time.

His wife survived the attack which saw eight Hong Kong tourists killed as well as a gunman, identified as former senior inspector Rolando Mendoza.

Mendoza had seized the bus with an assault rifle in an apparent attempt to get his job back, after being sacked from Manila’s police force earlier this year.

Mrs Leung is believed to have told reporters that her husband was killed trying to stop the gunman from shooting other passengers.

Mr Leung had been with Stadium since March 2000 and joined the board of Stadium Group plc in December 2002.

Chief executive Nigel Rogers said: “Ken’s passing is an enormous shock to all of us, and our immediate concerns are for his wife, son and wider family at this most difficult time.”
