Taipei, Oct. 31 (CNA) An EVA Air plane that received damage to its tail at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport two days ago returned safely from China Saturday.
The plane was taxiing Thursday morning when the captain sensed small stones being blown up by a strong wind.
He immediately alerted the control tower, and the taxiway was shut down, affecting the departure times for other planes queuing up for their turn to take off.
The control tower then sent towing vehicles to tow the waiting planes to other taxiways to allow them to take off.
After the EVA Air plane arrived at Taiyuan Wusu International Airport in Shanxi province in northern China that day, it was found to have suffered damage to its tail.
To ensure passenger safety, EVA Air sent another plane for the return flight.
Following repair work, the damaged plane returned safely to Taiwan Saturday. The cause of the damage was pending further investigation.
