I have read almost all of Archer's books, but I gradually grew to dislike them.
Somehow, his books give me the impresssion that you can predict what's going to happen next.
Just my opinion.

Just finished Thomas Powers' "Intelligence Wars" - American Secret History from Hitler to Al-Qaeda.

Going to start on James bamford's "Body of secrets" - anatomy of the ultra-secret National Security Agency. I also have his other "The Shadow Factory" - the ultra secret NSA from 9/11 to the eaves-dropping on America.

I like Powers writing style. Bamford is another good writer.

I have just completed "Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption" by Laura Hillenbrand. The book's central character is Louis Zamperini, who participated in the 5000m event in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and who also participated in the pacific war. He is still living now at 95 years old.

Before that, I read "Shadow Diver: The True Adventure of Two Americans Who Risked Everything to Solve One of the Last Mysteries of World War II" by Robert Kurson. Essentially, the story about two wreck divers who are trying to identify the identity of the U-Boat which sank in the waters of New Jersey.

I read the book halfway but stopped. No motivation to continue with the movie still fresh in my mind.
I'd say both screen and print versions have their own merits.

I too like John Grisham's books, a number which have gone onto film. Try also The Pelican's Brief, The Firm and The King of Torts.
