All thanks to Ho Ching, now the PAP is trying to cut cost in whatever ways they can.

Maybe the next National Day Parade, the PAP Ministers need to come to watched the Parade in their underwear as the PAP government must cut cost on providing all the free white shirts and pants to them.

If indeed no fireworks, I thank the bastards for squandering less of our hard-earned money. I won't vote for them still.:wink:

Re: No fireworks this year in NDP? Funeral Candle Light Vigil

No fireworks nor celebration, just a candle light vigil @ Padang as if LKY died or something like that.

Yet another very Suay Omen.

Mr. JBJ is there awaiting to be re-united with LKY old fart.

They should had LKY's hearse on the parade procession like a funeral.

SINGAPORE : More than 10,000 people gathered at the Padang to celebrate National Day on Sunday evening.

The area was where the first historic shouts of Merdeka rang out. And 44 years later, many turned up to mark Singapore’s National Day.

Padang was aglow on Sunday with the light from candles surrounding a large Singapore flag, unfurled by the Young NTUC’s performance arts group.

Josephine Teo, Assistant Secretary—General of NTUC said: "The candles symbolise the strength that each of the workers have demonstrated, their courage and tenacity in working together to overcome the challenges that we face. And supporting us would be the government and the tripartite partners and our employers as well.

"The passing of the light from person to person also symbolises that even when one of us is down and out, the rest of us can give strength and support each other along the way."

"We will have our performance arts group called ’Play’ putting out some performances. There will be a couple of acts before the main parade broadcast, and then after the main parade broadcast there will be a 45—minute concert," said Steve Tan, Assistant Secretary of Young NTUC.

Many also lined the streets along the Padang to catch the City March Pass. The last time it took place was in 1995. — CNA /ls
