Re: Olam

The whipsaw mentioned by Zatoichi may well happen on Monday, with some nervous short-sellers rushing for cover...
Haha, ironically, it's the short-covering short-sellers who are obliged to support Olam's stock price! LOL
So the longs can just sit back and relax, without needing to do anything to ensure Olam's stock market does not collapse.

The only way for the price to collapse is if BOTH the longs and NEW short-sellers join forces selling! LOL

Don't goad too early. 147 was the support, and it was punctured on thurs. there is usually a bounce to test this support line, and if this bounce cannot quickly go back above 147, then the support now becomes resistance line. Friday trade revealed that olam is likely to trade further down in coming weeks, as even on a strong market up day, olam could not even mount 147.

Did you mean "gloat"?

Yes, you're right, so we'll have to see what happens on Monday and Tuesday.

But I have to disagree here.
Friday was certainly NOT a "strong market up day"; the price opened below Thursday's close and closed only 1 cent above Thursday's close.
Furthermore, volume was SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the daily average volume for the past 2 weeks.

Having said that, it was certainly not a "down" day as well, especially when selling pressure, in terms of direction and volume, was also much lower.

Friday was strong market up because sit closes above 3100 psychological and technical resistance.

Olam has high chance of going to $1 and possibly lower, now that shareholders are worried about more rights and equity issues. Which fund manager wants to have olam in top 20 position of their portfolio at yearend closing? How to explain to clients?

Ok, whatever.
Technical indicators are not 100% reliable anyway! haha

I also agree.

Maybe only Temasek? LOL

How to explain to clients?
"Dear Cabinet Ministers of Singapore, our CEO, Ho Ching, wants you all not to worry." LOL

Re: Olam

You may well be correct, although I have a slightly different take. When banks and broking houses start callling for "sell" they are prepping for their bigger clients to buy, I feel. Volume has been dropping generally, from 120million on 20 Nov to Friday's 20 million. Those who have not sold would not find it worthwhile selling now. The whipsaw mentioned by Zatoichi may well happen on Monday, with some nervous short-sellers rushing for cover; some already doing so in the last 30 minutes of trading, ending with a hammer. Whether it is a dead cat bounce will be clear by Wednesday - as usual the Mr Market will decide.

What does whipsaw and hammer means in this instance?.

Definition of 'Whipsaw'
A condition where a security's price heads in one direction, but then is followed quickly by a movement in the opposite direction. The origins of term is derived from the push and pull action used by lumberjacks to cut wood with a type of saw with the same name.

Investopedia explains 'Whipsaw'
There are two types of whipsaw patterns. The first involves an upward movement in the share price, which is then followed by a drastic downward move, which causes the share's price to fall relative to its original position. The second type involves the share price to drop for a little while, and then suddenly, the price abruptly surges towards positive gains relative to the stock's original position.

Definition of 'Hammer'
A price pattern in candlestick charting that occurs when a security trades significantly lower than its opening, but rallies later in the day to close either above or close to its opening price. This pattern forms a hammer-shaped candlestick.

Re: Olam

oh... ok! haha

Then let's see if Temasek decides to move Olam into its top 20 by year-end, or maybe by 31-3-13 (http://www.temasekreview.com.sg/portfolio/major_life.aspx)! haha
Olam will never be in top 20. The price fall will negate all new purchases from temasick. Unless temasick is willing to buy it all up and bookmark a fairy tale value on its portfolio. Don't think they are that stupid to pour in 10 bn to save 400 mil.

With Ho Jinx, anything is possible. She might even put the entire CPF into it. With this kind of lack of transparency and totally worldclass shocking investment ethics and strategies, anything is possible under Leegime.

Precisely! LOL
Peasants only need food to survive; don't need money! LOL

And Temasek needs peasants to be slaves, so Temasek will make sure that peasants are well-fed.

With PAP/Temasek/GIC controlling all, or at least nearly all, the money in Singapore, and Singapore Citizens well-fed, all Singaporeans should live happily ever after! LOL

Olam is too public and close to home. Many sinkies and even former staff are watching. So not likely they will do stupid things. Sinkies should spend more time figuring out GIC, that's where the real black hole is.

Temasick and you are delusional if they think that buying olam will secure food source for sinkieland. If there is real food shortage worldwide, other governments can easily screw olam by imposing very high food export tax, export quota etc. only the USA have the military might to force other countries to comply to their needs and wants.

While I believe it is mean as a joke with the feeding.
Government can just easily nationalise the companies and investment firms or sovereign weath funds can't do anything about it. Take Argentina as an example.

That's the spiel the company used in selling their shares to temasick. Naturally some in temasick are too junior to realize the futility of such efforts. They clearly have yet to learn from shin corp lesson.

Stupidity takes many forms. When the charts for Citibank were sinking and sinking, Temasick went in big time when others were selling, selling....
