ERRANT heavy vehicle drivers were slapped with 60 per cent more summonses from the Traffic Police in the first 9 months this year than during the same period last year. A total of 2,400 summonses were issued to drivers of these vehicles this year, 900 more than the 1,500 last year.

The offences ranged from speeding, failing to keep left, and failing to wear seatbelts. The numbers came after a Heavy Vehicles Operation in Tuas today, which saw 108 heavy and light goods vehicles being issued summonses. The operation, conducted by the Traffic Police lasted well over four hours.
