Istana, means palace in Malay, is for presidential uses and not an old folk home for retiring Papies politicans. Is the PM going to reposses the Istana from the outgoing cabinate minister and restore the Istana solely for presidential functions use?

White House is only 18 acres and that is enough to protect US President. Istana is close to 100 acres. I think they should just build a new Istana on Sentosa Island - set aside 5 acres of land and build in a main building for reception and living quarters with separate guest house for dignitaries if they want to stay.
Then open up the Istana to the public, buildings turn in restaurants, museum and the grounds can be something like NYC Central Park with jogging trials,, etc etc. Gov buy land from Meridien Hotel and put in a multi storey carpark. Open it for Singaporeans.
