Missing girl, 17, who doesn't speak English arrived alone at Heathrow from China​

She was taken into police protection after concerns for her safety but hasn't been seen in several days

A girl who arrived in London by herself from China and speaks limited English has gone missing. 17-year-old Shuyi Xu arrived alone to Heathrow Airport from China, where she is from, on Friday, December 23.

The teenager is believed to have stayed at places in Shoreditch and then Whitechapel, East London. Then a few days later on Thursday, December 29, Shuyi was seen by staff at Heathrow Airport again.

It is not clear why she went back to the airport, but following concerns for her welfare, they called the Met and she was taken into police protection.

Shuyi was then taken into the care of the local council, but at around 2.30pm on Wednesday, January 4, she left an address she was staying at in Barnet, North London, and has not been seen since.

The Met Police do not believe she has come to 'serious harm' but officers are concerned for her safety.

She was last seen wearing a white jumper, black skirt, and flat white shoes.

Detective Inspector Daniel Branch, North West Command Unit, said: "Shuyi speaks Mandarin Chinese and limited English. This is believed to have been her first visit to the UK and she has little experience of London. We’re working to build a picture of her movements and who she might have been associating with.

"I urge Shuyi, or anyone who has seen her, to make contact with us immediately."
