Gahment say the median salary of lawyer is $4.29 million.

True or not? How many lawyers are there in SG? If median salary is $4.29 million, it means a lot of lawyers make millions a year.

Same goes for Accountant. $3.72 million for median salary. Newspapers advertised accountant jobs for maybe on average $4000-$6000 per month. That is less than $80,000 a year. How did the $3.72 million come about?

Even the high flyers in accounting make maybe $200,000 a year. Ok, some maybe paid $300,000K a year. There aren't too many accounting job that pays more than $1million a year, how did the median salary of $3.72 million come about? Mind you, median means middle so if $3.72 million is the true median, there is a lot of accountants making $3.70, $3.60, $3.65 and so on.

Is it possible the gahment inflate these median salaries to jusstify the high salaries?

If people can prove to the gahment that the median salary for accountants is about $200,000 a year, that will bring down the salaries of the ministers.

IIRC, they only include the salaries of the top 20? people in those professions. They sure as hell don't include the average man-in-the-street salaries or worse, graduates' starting salaries. So the median you are seeing is the median of the top people in those professions only. Note also that it is not tied to individuals but the top echelon, so if one of the top-earners fall out of that tier for one year, he will be replaced by another person.

I agree with this. It would really appear they make a lot of money. Because they only see the hugher rank of people. But what about the hundred of other people who are living opposite as them.

The stats are actually useless as all these people could already be working for Temasek.

If they wanted to skew these stats, they can simply give themselves a pay hike. Look at the Gecko she is a lawyer & pulling in millions to billions

Total of 48 top earners only (8 top from 6 professions). The median is 24th. Obviously the business and professional is not factored in. There is no business or professional risk in the civil service unless for PE and Medical doctors and registered professional there is the professional risk if you are practicising.

Without factoring the risk, there is no parity.

I dun tink they're referring to salaried workers. These figures are business incomes from law firms, audit firms, etc

the figures are so high, bcos 1 or 2 clowns r drawing super huge salary scales, that stretches the median mark.

case 1: clown 1 @ $20kp.a., clown 2 @ $30kp.a., clown 3 @ $40kp.a., clown 4 @ $50kp.a. = avg $35kp.a.

case 2: clown 1 @ $10kp.a, clown 2 @ $10kp.a, clown 3 @ $100kp.a, clown 4 @ $200kp.a = avg $80kp.a.
