The issue at hand is really quite serious;
1. It shows up the inept Manpower and Estate Management planning by the govt that resulted in such adhoc policies being rammed down.

2. It shows that the imposition of the foreign worker's levy as a farce shown by the high influx and dependance on cheap foreign workers.

3. It also highlights the idiocy of imposing a racial quota restrictions for the sale of HDB flats when this principle is disregarded by placing ultimately 1000 banglas arbitrarily into a small population base of 4000 locals in S'goon Gardens clearly throws the racial balance off dramatically overnight.

4. The latent danger of dependance on CHEAP foreign labour and maids is addictive and hinders the urgency to restructure the economy and industries away from such an addiction. Singapore should immediately go cold turkey.

5. S'goon Garden voters should now realise the importance of voting wisely and have themselves to blame for allowing PAP to run their ward. At least Potong Pasir voters were clever enough to reject the PAP especially the LIKES OF Mah Bow Tan. Which S'poreans allowed MBT to enter Parliament in the first place should have all the foreign workers dumped into their ward.

Anyform of feedback to the PAP doesn't change a thing. Only a cosmetic repackaging of the policy results. It ultimately gets rammed down regardless. S'poreans never learn this lesson. To heave a sigh of relieve is simply NIAVE and self delusional.

Actually the truth is that the majority of residents in Serangoon Gardens voted for the Opposition in the last elections. Of the five precincts in Aljunied GRC, Serangoon Gardens (which is represented by Lim Hwee Hua) was the only one in which the WP won.

Maybe the PAP is doing this to PUNISH the residents of Serangoon Gardens for voting against them.

In fact there is a historical parallel to this. In the 1991 elections Ling How Doong won in Bukit Gombak and the PAP government proceeded to demolish the old Hillview HDB estate there.

Of course it was later absorbed into Hong Kah GRC.

A lot of people like to stay there because they like the place although it is a traffic hell. Look at the people who were interviewed on the news.
