AN ENGINEER landed himself in trouble with the law for using his wife's identity card to enter a casino without having to pay the $100 levy.
A security officer of Resorts World Sentosa noticed Lim Chung Siong, 35, behaving suspiciously when entering the casino through the lane for citizens and permanent residents on March 4.
On checking, he found that the Singapore permanent resident had used someone else's identity card to gain access. He called the police.
Investigation showed that Lim had taken his wife Chan Pui Gek's identity card from her purse without her knowledge to avoid paying the levy. His wife has a year-long levy pass.
Lim, who pleaded guilty to two charges, will be sentenced on June 16. He can be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to 10 years for using the identity card without lawful authority.
For entering the casino without paying the levy, he can be fined up to $1,000 and ordered to pay the levy.
