Man suspected of 13 cases of outrage of modesty to be charged in court

SINGAPORE - A man thought to have been involved in 13 cases of outrage of modesty is due to be charged in court today.
The 40-year-old was arrested near Jurong West on Thursday.
If convicted, he could be jailed for two years, fined and caned. If he is also found guilty of insulting the modesty of a woman, he may be jailed for up to one year and fined.
Meanwhile in a separate case, a 22-year-old man believed to have been involved in nine cases of housebreaking in Woodlands and Yishun was also arrested on Wednesday near Sembawang Road.
The thefts took place between July and this month. Victims had discovered valuables including cash, mobile phones and laptops missing from their residential units.
He will also be charged in court on Friday.
Anyone convicted of housebreaking and theft by night can be sentenced to between two and 14 years imprisonment.
Police reminded members of the public to keep large sums of money in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box. They also recommended securing doors and windows and installing a burglar alarm.
