what happened to the peace that we used to enjoy...

A man was shot dead and two others arrested near the Shangri-La hotel at 4.35 am on Sunday (May 31).

A police statement released today said the men had stopped at a police vehicular checkpoint set up along Ardmore Park.

The Shangri-La Dialogue is taking place at the hotel.

When asked to open the car boot for checks, the driver accelerated towards Anderson Road.

In spite of police warnings to stop, the driver continued to crash through the barricades, endangering the lives of the officers.

Police officers then opened fire on the vehicle.

The car stopped at the junction of Orange Grove Road and Anderson Road.

Substances believed to be drugs were found on one of the men arrested.

The police said Orange Grove Road, Anderson Road and Ardmore Park are temporarily closed for police operations.

Members of public are advised to stay away from the area.

Due to the ongoing Shangri-La Dialogue, security measures including vehicle and person check points have been put up in the area.

A major security forum is held at Shangri-La hotel regularly. Given the sensitivity of the meetings, our city's finest have been ordered to be vigilant. They would not hesitate to take down any security threat, especially if it came from a sinkie or pro-opposition activist. I hope it was Roy or HHH behind the wheel and got shot.

The IISS Asia Security Summit: The Shangri-La Dialogue (SLD) is a "Track One" inter-governmental security forum held annually by an independent think tank, the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) which is attended by defense ministers, permanent heads of ministries and military chiefs of 28 Asia-Pacific states. The forum gets its name from the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore where it has been held since 2002.

The summit serves to cultivate a sense of community among the most important policymakers in the defence and security community in the region. Government delegations have made the best out of the meeting by holding bilateral meetings with other delegations on the sidelines of the conference. While primarily an inter-governmental meeting, the summit is also attended by legislators, academic experts, distinguished journalists and business delegates.

The participants have included Australia, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, People's Republic of China, Philippines, Russia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, East Timor, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.

It does not pay to be a criminal in Spore. Mata have guns, criminals rarely have access to guns. The odds are stacked against them. This is why I am a law-abiding citizen.

There is plenty of crime in Spore. We have all seen those boards police set up to look for witnesses, advertising criminals caught, warning of ah long activity,... These are petty crimes.

The smarter criminals are those doing white whlte crime. For example the case of the two former Singapore Land Authority (SLA) officers involved in a $12 million fraud case .

What about the case of the indian FT using a fake degree to get a job at IDA. Is this a crime:confused:
