Man found dead at Punggol construction site
SINGAPORE: A man was found dead at a construction site near Punggol Central on Friday.
According to the Manpower Ministry (MOM), the accident took place at Qingjian International (South Pacific) Group Development Co Pte Ltd's worksite along Punggol Central.
Police said they received a call at about noon on Friday asking for help at a construction site at Punggol Central.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a similar call and despatched an ambulance to the scene.
Police said they arrived on the scene and found a man in his 50s lying motionless.
The man pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. He was identified as a Chinese national.
Officers from MOM's Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate were also on-site to investigate the accident.
According to MOM, preliminary findings show that the construction worker was repairing a leaking column formwork at the edge of the sixth storey of a building during a concreting operation when he fell to the ground floor.
MOM is investigating the case and has instructed all concreting work at the site to be stopped.
Police are also investigating the case.
