Man fined for punching
A MAN whose 10-year-old son was punched by a stranger hit back at the attacker. For voluntarily causing hurt to operations manager Lim Chee Kiong, 44, the 38-year-old technician was fined $1,000 on Tuesday after pleading guilty. The court heard that the technician had left his son, then a Primary 5 student, and daughter at the eXplorerkid indoor playground at Downtown East on Dec 16 last year to play while he went window-shopping.
About an hour later, he received a call from a woman operations manager who said that a man had punched his son. The father rushed to the playground at Pasir Ris Close and saw a bruise on his son's left cheek. He asked the complainant to call the police and for Mr Lim to return to the scene. As soon as Mr Lim came, the accused confronted him about the incident and punched him on the left cheek. Mr Lim was fined $3,000 in August for punching the boy. The maximum penalty for causing hurt is a jail term of up to two years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
