Man arrested for molesting woman in a lift

SINGAPORE - A 23-year-old man was arrested on Thursday morning for outrage of modesty.
A 27-year-old female victim made a police report on Monday night, saying that she was molested in the lift of an HDB block along Jurong West St 65.
The suspect was arrested at 9am today in the vicinity of Joo Koon MRT Station.
He will be charged in court on Feb 1 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354A(2)(a) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.
If convicted, the suspect may be jailed for a term of not less than 3 years and not more than 10 years and may also be liable to caning.
Commander of Jurong Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Wilson Lim, advised victims who encounter such situations to remain calm, take note of the suspect's physical descriptions, and to call the police as soon as it is safe to do so.
