SINGAPORE: The police have arrested a lift robber who is believed to have robbed two elderly women in their seventies, in the last nine days.
The robberies took place in Bukit Purmei and Clementi.
Officers from Central Police Division mounted an ambush and arrested the suspect, a 53-year-old man, near Joo Koon MRT station.
A gold chain found in his possession was seized.
The suspect will be charged on Saturday.
If convicted, he can be jailed for up to 10 years and spared the cane due to his age.
