Many of you do not know anything about Sikhism.
A little introduction here.

Sikhs when they say their prayers, pray for the well being, goodness and prosperity for ALL not just himself or Sikhs alone but for all of us.

Sikh prayers always end with these words:

"NANAK NAAM CHARDI KALAH, TERE BHANE SARBAT DA BHALA"

which mean:

NANAK NAAM CHARDI KALAH -- Nanak asks for ‘Naam’ (ie name of God aka Waheguru - Wondrous God) with the recitation of which comes well being, happiness and positive spirit,

TERE BHANE SARBAT DA BHALA -- And with your blessings, Lord may everyone in the world prosper and be in peace.

The moment you have a view of the Golden Temple from one of the 4 entrances the word "WOW" will flow from your mouth.
You would feel that you have now entered Heaven.
Just a glimpse by standing at the one of the 4 entrances will leave you in shock and then complete peace will come over your body and all your worries and stress will be gone.
The real name is Harminder Sahib. The word "Harmandir" is composed of two words: "Hari", which scholars translate as "God ", and "mandir", which means "house". "Sahib" is further appended to the shrine's name, the term often used within Sikh tradition to denote respect for places of religious significance.

Golden Temple

The Golden Temple has recently been declared the most visited place in the world.
The glorious declaration came after London based organisation, World Book of Records verified this record. The award was handed to the Shriomani Gurdwara Pharbandhak Committee (SPGC) Chief Secretary Roop Singh by the India chapter of World Book of Records.

Golden Temple Amritsar, which is the holiest site for Sikhs, is located in the state of Punjab, and is visited daily by hundreds of thousands of devotees and believers.

The Sikh Holy Book is called the Guru Granth Sahib.

A verse from the Sikh Holy Book about Death and how to overcome the fear of Death

Death is a thing we all must do. But we are deeply afraid of it. How do we form a relationship with death? This article explores Salok Mahala 9 as Guru Teghbahadar Sahib helps us confront our fear of death and understand the lessons death has to teach us here and now.

Not many of you know much about Sikhism.
It arose when the Mughals ruled India and God formed the Sikhs to stop the injustice.
The Golden Temple scene at about 4:00 a.m. when the Shri Guru Granth Sahib (the Holy Book) is brought from the Akal Takht (Throne of the Eternal One) to the Golden Temple.
You have to be present to feel God. The experience is out of this world.
Even a non believer in God will start repeating God's name.

Wahe Guru ji... I am a Tamil guy but still I always find there is a long lasting bond between me and this place since the day I visited for the first time... Guru's sacrifices and valor are morale boosters and hint for unity in diversity

There's no way not to get emotional... It's a strong connection with the divine creator, with nature or with the infinite, I don't know how to explain it, I just know that it's wonderful, beautiful, beautiful

Very wise words of Bhagat Kabeer, a very holy man, who pleads to humanity not to waste our human life as this is the only opportunity we have to attain unity with God.

Kabeer dying, the whole world has to die and yet none know how to die
Let those who die, die such a death, that they shall never have to die again.

(that is you never need to be reborn again whether in human or animal form)

Kabeer, it is so difficult to obtain this human body, it does not just come over and over again.
It is like the ripe fruit on the tree; when it falls to the ground it cannot be reattached to the branch.

(Kabeer again advises us not to take this human form lightly as it only comes after many many rebirths and to take this as an opportunity to reunite with the Source)

For all those who want an insight into their purpose on earth.
Listen to this prayer with an open mind and when there is complete silence.
Read the translation.
Life is running out each second.

"The message of the slokas is fundamentally the same as that of the rest of the Sikh Scripture. Here, as everywhere else in the Guru Granth Sahib, the stress is on remembrance and contemplation of God and recitation of naam, i.e. God`s Name.

To quote the opening salok: "To the praise of God you have not lent yourself, Your life you have thus wasted away. Says Nanak cherish God`s nam in your heart, As the fish cherishes water".

The same message is repeated almost in every page. The underlying assumption is that God, referred to by various names such as Gobind, Ram, Hari, Bhagvan, is the only true reality and the source of all existence. Everything except God is a passing phenomenon."

The respect Sikhs have for their Holy Book is unparalleled.
When you meditate on God's name in your mind all the time and begin to remove pride, anger, lust, greed and attachment, then you will become 1 with God.
How does it happen or when will you know that you are completely immersed in God's name?
For eg. if you move/awaken in your sleep at 1.00 am or 3:00 am and the first word your mind utters is God's name or a Holy Hymn comes to your mind then you have become one with God.

From 1:15 onwards.

Kabeer was a greatly respected Muslim saint whose sayings are incorporated into the Sikh holy book.

kabeer tooN tooN kartaa too hoo-aa mujh meh rahaa na hooN.
Kabeer, repeating, "You, You", I have become like You. Nothing of me remains in myself.

jab aapaa par kaa mit ga-i-aa jat daykh-a-u tat too. ||204||
When the difference between myself and others is removed, then wherever I look, I see only You. ||204||

Ab Tho Jaae Chadtae Singhaasan Milae Hai Saaringapaanee ||
Now, I have mounted to the throne of the Lord; I have met the Lord, the Sustainer of the World.

Raam Kabeeraa Eaek Bheae Hai Koe N Sakai Pashhaanee ||6||3||
The Lord and Kabeer have become one. No one can tell them apart. ||6||3||

Waheguru means Wonderful Lord.
Immerse yourself into the Universe, which is God himself.
View full screen.
Remove all distractions from your mind.
Repeat Waheguru - Wonderful God
You will realize how insignificant you are and the wonder that is God.

Behind everything there is one thing Waheguru , This universe is so vast and everywhere in this universe or even in multiverse there's Waheguru , the creator Waheguru , Thank you so much for this video , you feel egoless when you actually look at the vastness of universe , that's why it's important to know how much big is the universe because you feel nothing (egoless- we are so so small) in front of the vastness of the universe And that's what Gurbani said , we need to kill our ego . Once again thank you very much.

Guru Granth Sahib (Sikh Holy Book) on the Universe

"There are planets, solar systems and galaxies.
If one speaks of them, there is no limit and no end."
The top line is the original text in Gurmukhi recited by Guru Nanak
in about 1499 found in the Sikh holy scripture called the Guru Granth Sahib
(SGGS p8)
The Sikh scriptures have said great many things about the Universe. However, although Gurbani has been in existence since about 1499 and the Guru Granth Sahib has been the Guru of the Sikh since 1708, the world has not been listening. It is clear that there is very little that the world has learnt from the important points mentioned in the Sikh holy text regarding the cosmos.
Carl Sagan (1934 – 1996) was an American astronomer, astrochemist, author, and highly successful popularizer of astronomy, astrophysics and other natural sciences. He was the David Duncan Professor of Astronomy and Space Sciences and Director of the Laboratory for Planetary Studies at Cornell University. He was a consultant and adviser to NASA since the 1950's and briefed the Apollo astronauts before their flights to the Moon.
This is what Carl Sagan, wrote in his book the Pale Blue Dot:
"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.' A religion, old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the Universe as revealed by modern science might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths."

Well! The holy Granth of the Sikhs has said all these amazing things about the cosmos but no one is listening!
The purpose of this article is not to criticise Carl Sagan but to bring home the point that most people pay little interest in studying our religious text with any real seriousness and that the many fascinating ideas within our religious texts are unknown to most of the world.
Despite the wonderful things mentioned in the holy Granth, we continue to remain deaf to these ideas and hence continue to deny our spirits the wisdom that is contained therein.

What Gurbani says

Guru Granth Sahib states that, “There are planets, solar systems and galaxies. If one speaks of them, there is no limit, no end. There are worlds upon worlds of His Creation. As He commands, so they exist. He watches over all, and contemplating the creation, He rejoices. Nanak says, to describe this is as hard as steel!” (SGGS p8).

Despite this fact being clearly stated in the Guru Granth Sahib some 500 years ago, most of humanity is not aware of these sayings. Guru Nanak was an exceptional visionary and was responsible for bring some amazing ideas to the world.

The scriptures say that the universe consists of many different bodies including planets, solar systems galaxies, stars, suns, skies, etc and that the scale and extent of these bodies is unknown and that there is no end to their number. It is clear from this that probable size of the universe is beyond an exact evaluation or calculation by the human mind.

The holy text continues to state: "The limits of the created universe cannot be perceived. Its limits here and beyond cannot be perceived. Many struggle to know His limits, but His limits cannot be found. No one can know these limits. The more you say about them, the more there still remains to be said." (SGGS p5).

So it appears that as we get a better estimate of the size of the universe, in other words, the more we find, then the realisation will dawn that there remain even more outside our knowledge. Gurbani tells us that this is how we will progress when we try and calculate the size of the Universe.

On a spiritual angle, the Guru tells us that the Lord is in his creation and the Creation is in the Lord; "All are in the One, and the One is in all." (SGGS p907).

So the Universe is a manifestation of the Lord; He is found within the Universe. So from this we can see the extent of God as portrait by Sikhism.

Furthermore, it is stated that God created the whole universe including the earth: “You Yourself created the earth, and the two lamps of the sun and the moon” (SGGS p83); "He creates planets, solar systems and galaxies;" (SGGS p1162). And, “Many millions are the moons, suns and stars” (SGGS p275).

The world does not know what is stated in the Sikh Holy Book
Here is a glimpse.

The Sikh Holy Book on the Universe/Multiverse/Other Beings-Aliens

SGGS: p.176 for eg. refer to the page of the Sikh Holy Book aka Shri Guru Granth Sahib.
You can open the text of the Sikh Holy Book on the internet with English translation and refer to the page no.

Origin of universe

a) “For countless ages, there was utter darkness. There was no earth and sky. There was neither day, nor night, nor moon, nor sun. The Lord sat in profound meditation. There was no hell, nor heaven, nor death, nor time." (SGGS, p.1035)

b) "The Lord Himself was in a state of nothingness from where He came into existence Himself. There was nothing of the universe at that time. ( SGGS: p.1035)

c) With one word (bang) the Lord effected the worlds' expansion whereby millions of rivers (of galaxies) began to flow. (SGGS: p.3)

d).He went on creating the entire nature creating nothingness from nothingness. (SGGS: p.1037)

(e) The Lord started creating regions and the universes from unmanifest to manifest. (SGGS:p.1036).

Unlimited Expanse of the Universe

a) The spread of the universe is limitless. Man is not alone in the universe. No one knows how much is the spread of universe. (SGGS: p.9) No one knows his end. (SGGS: p.469) There are millions of regions and nether lands. These are beyond my calculations. Billions are the airs, waters and fires. Billions are the countries and earths. Billions are the suns, moons and planets. (SGGS: p.176). The Lord created the physical world in numerous varieties of colours. He goes on creating the universe the way His Greatness is. (SGGS: p.6)

The human form is your best opportunity to seek reunion with God.
You attain this human form after many many lifetimes.
Please do not waste it.
Every second gone is opportunity lost.

SIKH COSMOLOGY

SIKH COSMOLOGY. From the very beginning man has been curious to know about the structure and constitution of the Universe and its origin. To locate the stable base of this universe and to fix his own place in it have been the subjects of his constant search and speculation for him. The Gurus brought their own mystical and philosophical powers to solving the riddle. In their poetry in the Guru Granth Sahib, they have expressed their sense of wonder and sung paeans of praise for the Almighty. A minute observation of the phenomenon of nature forms an important part of the Sikh metaphysical insight.

https://www.thesikhencyclopedia.com/philosophy-spirituality-and-ethics/metaphysics/sikh-cosmology/

Unique is the structure of his body which is “the temple of the living God ban mandam ehu sanru hai….” (GG, 1346). It is in this worthy temple that the Creator is to be realized and worshipped. Guru Amar Das says: In the body are contained, Pearls and treasures, The storehouse of devotion. The nine regions of the earth, Sliops and markets And the nine treasures of nam, the divine Are contained in this frame. (GG, 754) The human body is the model of the whole creation, We, each one of us, are the complete universe. Man is the microcosm of the cosmos which is the macrocosm.

The study of this macrocosm can reveal all the secrets contained in the macrocosm. Our body is the epitome of all creation and we have only to turn within to seek the truth. There is a complete parallel system between the physical processes of the universe and the biological processes in the body of man. Above and beyond the nine visible “gates” (eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth and the two lower apertures) of the body there lies the invisible “tenth door”(dasam duar) where the true sabda, in all its resplendent glory and bliss, keeps ceaselessly resounding.

This unstruck music (akhand sabad), the stream of perennial life, the true Nectar is incessantly in operation in the “tenth door” from where man can travel back to his true Home (sach khand) on the ship of the Word (sabda).
He can then merge his individual self in the universal self to obtain lasting release from the cycle of birth and death. In fact, the human body is a precious gift, the golden opportunity which the great Lord mercifully grants to creation so that it may realize its true self and become one with the transcendent. To utilize the body for this purpose is the real goal and end of life, and the only justification for man`s sojourn in this world. The concept of cosmology advanced by the Gurus is not merely theological or speculative.

Listen and read the translation and put them to the real life events that we see and read everyday.

One thing I can tell everyone is that there is no hatred, anger or negativity in the Sikh Holy Book towards anyone or any religion.
If you are a Hindu, Muslim, Christian or Buddhist, it will tell you to be a good Hindu, Muslim, Christian or Buddhist ie. a good human.

Quote of Guru Nanak:

Mothers, fathers, friends, children and spouses-no one is the support of anyone else.
For each and every person, our Lord and Master provides sustenance. Why are you so afraid, O mind? ||2||

Who feeds them, and who teaches them to feed themselves? Have you ever thought of this in your mind? ||3||

From the majestic Emperor Jalaluddin Akbar, to the poorest beggar, the institution of langar has equalified humanity since its inception. Dhan Guru Nanak. <3

In the year 1569, Akbar came to the Punjab and wanted to see the Guru.

So he sent a message to Guru Amar Das ji that he was coming to visit him. The Sikhs were very happy at the news. Some Sikhs thought that special arrangements should be made to welcome the king. But the Guru said, "Akbar is as much a human being as others are. The Guru's place is open to all. The king and his subjects, the Hindus and the Muslims, the rich and the poor are all equal here. So Akbar will be welcomed like all other visitors to the Guru's place and special arrangements need not be made."

"Caste has no power in the next world; Only the humble are exalted there. It is only the good who are honoured for good acts." ( Guru Amar Das in GGS ji – 469 ) The king, along with the Rajah of Haripur, arrived in Goindwal where the Guru lived. The Guru and a few Sikhs received them warmly. They were shown round the place. Akbar was interested to know how the Guru's Langar was run. Simple food was served to all in the Guru's Langar. It remained open day and night.

Travellers, beggars, and strangers, as well as the followers of the Guru, were all served with food. Whatever was left was thrown to the cattle and birds so that nothing was wasted. The Guru had given an order that all persons coming to visit his place must have their food in the Langar (when hungry). There they were to sit in rows (Pangat) as equals and were to be served simple food in turn. Akbar and the Rajah of Haripur took their meals in the Guru's Langar. They sat among the common people in a row and the Sikhs served them food. They enjoyed the simple food and were very happy. Akbar liked the working of the Guru's Langar very much.

Before leaving, Akbar said to the Guru,

"I like Guru Nanak's religion very much and I respect you for your teachings. I want to make a grant of land for running the Langar. Would you mind it!". The Guru replied,

"Dear Akbar, I am very glad you like the path of Baba Nanak. I am also grateful to you for your offer of a grant of land for the Langar, but I am sorry I cannot accept it because the Guru likes all to work hard to earn (Kirt Karni) and to share their honest earnings (Wand Chakna) with others, by giving something to the Langar from their honest earnings to help others. As such, the Guru's langar is the people's (Sangat's) Langar and it must be run on people's free gifts and not on a royal grant. That is why all share equally in the Guru's Langar and no one is looked upon as an outsider. In the Guru's Langar, each gives as much as we can spare and takes as much as he/she needs. Here, there is no difference between kings and beggars. All sit together; and eat simple food served with loving care."

Jin dhundha tin payiya, gahire pani paith
Mein bori duban dari, rahi kinare baith

Those who searched by diving into the deep water found
I foolishly feared drowning and remained seated on the shore

MEANING
One who wants to get some pearls has to dive deeply into the ocean. The person who will fear drowning will not get anything.
In the same way, he who wants God realization has to dive deeply in meditation, and merge completely into God's love.

Sahib teri sahibi, sab ghat rahi samay
Jyon mehandi ke pat mein, laali lakhi na jay

Power of Almighty dwells in every heart but is invisible
Just as the red colour resides in the green mehandi leaves and is invisible

MEANING
To get the red colour from the mehendi leaves one has to grind them into a fine paste and apply it on the hands. When the paste dries and the hands are washed, the red colour appears. In the same way one has to grind (cleanse) his mind by meditation to realize God.

Kachi kaya man athir, thir thir kaam karat
Jyon jyon nar nidhadak phire, tyon tyon kaal hasat

The body is perishable like an unbaked clay pot, and the mind is restless
Still, man delays in worldly actions unmindful of fear, death looks at him and laughs

Paw palak ki sudhi naahi, kare kaal ko saaj
Kaal achanak marsi, jyon titar ko baaz

We do not know what will happen in the next moment, but still we prepare for the distant future
Death will come suddenly just as hawks pounce upon birds

Maati kahe kumhar se, tu kya rondhe mohe
Ek din aisa aayega, mein rondhugi tohe

The earth says to the potter, “why are you trampling on me now?”
One day will come when I will trample on you

MEANING
We must be humble and kind, and try to learn from everything. What you do to others will return to you.

Ghat ghat mera saiyan, suni sej na koy
Balihari ghat tasu ki, jag hat pargat hoy

My Lord is dwelling in each and every heart, not a single place is empty
But that heart is great where God manifests his qualities

MEANING
Though the bliss of God’s love is in the human heart, because of ignorance, people do not know it, and they search for happiness in wordly things.
Instead of bliss they get disappointment. One should realize that God is dwelling in every heart. And service to humanity is service to God
