Komodo dragon among top 10 natural wonders
The komodo dragon of Indonesia has entered the top 10 of the new seven wonders in the category of nature.
Indonesian Minister for Culture and Tourism Jero Wacik told a press conference on Thursday that there are 212 national parks that compete to enter the list.
"The Komodo dragon has entered the top 10 of the new seven wonders.
I am optimistic that with the support of all Indonesians and votes for the Komodo dragon, it will enter the top seven," said Jero.
He added that the government has enhanced a campaign and socialisation so that people vote for the Komodo dragon.
"This would make the only living pre-historical animal more famous," said Jero.
The final result of the new seven wonders will be announced in November 2011.
