<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> WHEN an acquaintance refused to rent his car to him, David Tay Chin Heng, 37, pulled out a metal rod from his pouch and warned the motorist not to 'make him go crazy'. The 28-year-old victim said that he needed the car for his sales job and then tried to drive out of the car park at Kaki Bukit Place but Tay, 37, an odd-job worker, snatched the keys from the ignition. Out of fear, the victim surrendered his Honda Fit car and informed the police of the theft the next day on March 5. On Monday, Tay was sentenced to jail for three years and a month and to 12 strokes of the cane. He had pleaded guilty to committing robbery at 8pm on March 4. His other offences included driving without a licence, without insurance coverage and for using forged licence plates. He was also disqualified from driving all vehicles for four years.
