A SINGAPORE couple who conceived their baby via in-vitro fertilisation are reeling from shock to discover that the child's DNA does not match the father's.

Their suspicions were first aroused when they noticed that their newborn baby's complexion was markedly different from theirs.

It may be more than that. Malay and even Indian fathered babies usually come out quite fair and the skin tint darkens gradually later till about 3 to 4 years old then reach full Malay brown or Indian dark complexion. Indian babies' features could also easily pass off as caucasoid features. It's likely to be negroid features and skin tint at birth that raised alarm.

I have a relative who tried for years to have kids. Eventually they went for IVF. Got a pair of twins. Reason why they went for IVF. Supposedly I heard was the sperm were not good swimmers. Didn't really go and clarify because quite sensitive. Heard these when the aunties were gossiping.
