Is 2GB data sufficient for mobile?

The telco's plan of 2GB data seems like the norm. Is this sufficient for mobile surfing, like watching youtube videos and normal internet surfing?

How many exceed this data quota per month?

As a ninja, you have failed the shogunate by not using your stealth skills for bandwidth tapping.

I can easily get through 30GB of data per month from my phone but I also do use it as a tethering device which makes a difference.

Yes more than enough. Because I dont watch movie on mobile phone.

Home broadband is for the home use. Hotspot is when one is outside......but what do you mean by average use? What is the speed of your plan?

I believe there are 2 considerations.....one is data quota and the other is the internet speed for the plan.

There are only 2 main speeds for broadband on mobile. LTE or 4G or 3g/3.5g aka hsdpa. I think the new 3G plans also have 2GB limit my old plan with 12GB is no more available.

Anyway now telecos are damn stingy with the data and surfing on forums even such as this can easily take up 1GB. IMO it's useless to have 4G speed but only 2GB cap cos once you load some videos or listen to some music your data is almost finished then it's pointless to have such fast speed cos if you are just doing light web browsing or checking information like stock prices, daily news articles etc then 3G or even edge speed is good enough so 4G speed with 2GB data cap is just stupid.

What is tethering device?

tethering means he uses his phone as a modem for his pc la. Alamak every smart phone should have the ability to do that nowadays.

Tethering converts your mobile device into a 'wireless hotspot', so when you connect your mobile phone to say, a laptop or PC via USB or Bluetooth, you can surf the net
on that machine anywhere there is an internet connection.

Also via wifi. Iphone 4 can also do that maybe ip3 too.

I see....can an ordinary phone which is not a smart phone do that?

I've also a mobile broadband of 7.2mbps (2GB), but it is a sim card. Can I put it into an ordinary phone and use it as tethering device?

iphone4 & 4s can be on wi-fi, but do not have mobile hotspot or "mi-fi" or tethering capability. the iphone5 has it. a mobile hotspot offering mi-fi tethering to other devices is different from a mobile with wi-fi tethered to a mi-fi. :p

No, 2G phones don't have this function. Most phones with 3/4G should be able to tether.

I assume you are referring to a dongle? The sim card is tied to the dongle, I doubt whether you could simply slip it into a 2G device for tethering.
There are better experts than me here who can advise you.
