KUALA LUMPUR: Police seized around RM15mil worth of drugs from a luxury condominium in Sentul yesterday. Two Iranian men in their 30s were also arrested.

Sources said a team of anti-narcotic policemen from the city police headquarters raided the condominium after receiving information of a major foreign drug syndicate operating in the city.

Around 60kg of syabu was seized, believed to have a street value of around RM15mil. In an unrelated case, police who searched a diaper bag belonging to a couple found a stash of about 200g of syabu hidden in it.

The couple aged 24 and 25 and their one-year-old baby, along with their 29-year-old friend, were at a monorail station near Jalan Imbi last Wednesday when police became suspicious of them and carried out a thorough search.

The couple and their friend were arrested and their baby was handed over to relatives.

City narcotics chief Asst Comm Kang Chez Chiang said a follow up to the arrests led police to an apartment near Bandar Mahkota Cheras where they arrested a Nigerian national, who was believed to be the couple’s drug supplier.

A small amount of marijuana and syabu was also found at the apartment. The street value of the drug seized is around RM50,000. ACP Kang said all four arrested tested positive for drugs.

“They have been remanded until Wednesday to be investigated under Section 39b of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the death sentence upon conviction,” he said.
