Worldwide, nearly 50% of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus customers are first-time iPhone users who switched from Google's Android system and mostly from Samsung devices, reports Sina's tech news portal.
According to the latest investor report from Citi Research, only 20% of existing iPhone users have upgraded to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It suggests that 80% of current iPhone users have yet to buy an iPhone 6, leaving a great potential for future sales growth. Apple customers are very likely to buy an iPhone if they already have one. A market analyst said iPhone retains around 80% of its customers for the sales cycles of each model.
The positioning strategy of iPhone 6 focuses on the large display user groups who used to dominate the Android system. Though its bigger screen somehow conflicts with Apple's iPad, the launch of the iPhone 6 reserves more time for a more innovative and feature-rich iPhone in the future, the report said.
