Why is it that most of those who die of Covid are either fucking old, or already riddled with chronic conditions?

It would be more truthful to say they died of old age, or of pre-existing conditions.

Truth be told, some of them look like they would have dropped dead any minute, whether or not there was a pandemic.

Exactly!
The cause of death is likely to be one of those chronic conditions.
Covid-19 virus does not cause the deaths.
Covid-19 likely was the trigger that caused their health to deteriorate, and also a factor that prevented them from recovering.
But to say that these people die from covid-19 seems like an unsubstantiated conclusion.

Dot is not saying that people should not be vaccinated.
Dot is saying that the government should not be bending truths in order to scare people into getting vaccinated.

Man's huge regret after elderly parents get Covid-19: Not convincing them to get vaccinated early

SINGAPORE (THE NEW PAPER) - Even though they were eligible, Mr Teo Kee Huat's elderly parents decided to put off their Covid-19 vaccinations earlier this year.
His mother had pre-existing medical conditions and insisted that she wanted to clear all her doctor's appointments first.
His father waited so they could get vaccinated together.
On June 1, Mr Teo's worst fears came true: His father, who is in his early 80s, tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).
Five days later, still reeling from the news, he received another shock: His mother, who is in her late 70s, tested positive and was also admitted to NCID.
Mr Teo, who works in engineering and is in his 40s, told The New Paper on Thursday (Aug 5): "At first I was worried about my dad, and then the big shocker was that my mum also tested positive. It was a worse feeling because my mum is not as healthy as my dad.

"I never expected both of them to suddenly contract Covid-19 at the same time."
Mr Teo and his two brothers were placed under quarantine as they had visited their parents that week. Their test results came back negative.
Mr Teo's father was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) one week after admission.
Said Mr Teo: "My dad's condition fluctuated a lot. He had high fever and his oxygen levels would just drop at times."

His mother also moved to the ICU one week after her admission as her oxygen levels "suddenly took a plunge".
"The fear I had was very real, especially when I received calls in the middle of the night from doctors telling me that my mum was not doing well," he added.
At one point, both his parents needed ventilators to help them breathe. Mr Teo could only stand outside the ICU wards and look on helplessly through a screen.
"All I could do was talk to my dad on the phone. And my mum looked so frail. I remember having this huge sense of regret and kept thinking I should have insisted they got vaccinated early. If I had, this wouldn't be happening."

Things took a turn for the better. By mid-June, his father's condition improved and he was moved to a general ward.
The same happened to his mother at the end of July and she was also moved to a general ward.
The seniors have since recovered from Covid-19, but are still hospitalised in the general ward at Tan Tock Seng Hospital because of other medical reasons, which Mr Teo declined to reveal.
He said: "It can be traumatic to see your loved ones going through something like this. All I can say is that people should not take Covid-19 lightly."

Convince the elderly

"Children should try to convince their elderly parents to get vaccinated. The pain they may go through if they contract Covid-19 is not worth it," he added.
In its daily update on Thursday, the Ministry of Health said 36 seniors aged above 60 are currently very ill; 31 are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
On Wednesday, a 79-year-old man died from complications from the virus. He had not been vaccinated and had a history of heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hypertension.
On Monday, a woman, 58, who had not been vaccinated and had no underlying medical conditions, died of complications from Covid-19.
The ministry said 65 per cent of the population had been fully vaccinated as at Wednesday, and 78 per cent had received at least one dose of a vaccine.

Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said in a ministerial statement on July 26 that the population's vaccination rate is going up by about one percentage point a day.
"By National Day, almost 70 per cent will have received two doses. By early-September, it should be almost 80 per cent.
"Our main worry is that our seniors, especially those 70 and above, are not sufficiently vaccinated. (As at July 26), just over 70 per cent of them have received two doses of the vaccines," added Mr Ong.
Professor Teo Yik Ying, dean of National University of Singapore's Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, told TNP it is especially important for the elderly to get vaccinated as the risk of infection, as well as the risk of serious illness when infected, rises with age.
"For the elderly, vaccination translates starkly to saving lives," he said.

He would have died probably even with the normal flu virus. So covid infection was just a contributary factor.

But having said that, stupid and kiasu sinkies would not be able to read between the lines and will quickly line up for their mRNA shot.

You cannot help stupid.

Last-chance saloon for the elderly poor to leave an estate behind for their loved ones:
If you are old and poor and do not have an estate, a will nor insurance that will benefit your beneficiaries, and if you are going to die from one or more of those illnesses that afflict the elderly (heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, Alzheimer's disease etc.), it may be a good idea to stay unvaccinated.

SINGAPORE - A 63-year-old man died of complications due to Covid-19 on Thursday (Aug 5).
He had developed a fever and cough on Tuesday and was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on Thursday after collapsing at home, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday night in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Singapore.
He was confirmed to have Covid-19 after his death.
The man had not been vaccinated against Covid-19 and had a history of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
This is the fourth Covid-19 death in the past five days. In all, 41 have died of complications due to the coronavirus.
MOH reported five new clusters on Friday, including one from the Jem mall in Jurong East and catering firm Elsie’s Kitchen. Both clusters have four cases each.

This is the second time that Jem has had a cluster. It was part of a cluster with Westgate mall that grew to 63 cases and was closed on June 28.
In total, there are currently 126 active clusters in Singapore, with three to 1,134 cases each.
The Jurong Fishery Port cluster remains the largest active cluster to date, with 1,134 cases.
In all, there were 97 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, taking Singapore’s total to 65,605.

Four cases were imported, while 93 cases were locally transmitted.
Of the new local cases, 56 were linked to previous cases and had already been quarantined, while another eight linked cases were not in quarantine when detected. The remaining 29 were unlinked.

MOH said there are 546 patients in hospital, down from 577 on Thursday.
Of these, 38 require oxygen supplementation, while seven are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Six of these 45 patients are fully vaccinated. Five require oxygen supplementation, and one requires intensive care as they have underlying medical conditions, said MOH.
Thirty-five seniors above the age of 60 are seriously ill, and of these, 30 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

MOH also said the number of new cases in the community has fallen from 878 in the week before to 671 in the past week, while the number of unlinked cases has decreased from 244 to 203 in the same period.
It added that 67 per cent of Singapore’s population are fully vaccinated as at Aug 5, while 78 per cent have received at least one dose.

The woman was unvaccinated and developed symptoms on July 21.
She was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital two days later, after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said she had a history of diabetes, hypertension and atrial fibrillation, a heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate.
Singapore's coronavirus death toll now stands at 42.
Meanwhile, MOH have identified two new active clusters, including one linked to Sin Ming 23 Coffee Shop.

The clusters linked to Westlite Juniper Dormitory and Jurong Fishery Port also grew.
There were 12 new cases linked to the dormitory cluster, taking it to 30 cases.
Nine new cases were linked to the fishery port cluster, which now has 1,143 cases.
It remains Singapore's largest active cluster.

In all, there were 75 new locally transmitted coronavirus cases reported on Saturday afternoon (Aug 7).
Of these, 50 were linked to previous cases and had already been quarantined, while another nine linked cases were not in quarantine when detected.
The remaining 16 were new unlinked cases.
Of the locally transmitted cases, three are seniors above 70 who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and at risk of serious illness.
There were also six imported cases who were placed on stay-home notice (SHN) or isolated on arrival in Singapore, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Two were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while four developed the illness during SHN or isolation.
As at Saturday afternoon, the total number of cases in Singapore stood at 65,686.

The squeeze is on for the imbeciles who choose to reject vaccines. Life will get a lot more inconvenient for themselves and their loved ones when they face multiple testings at work places, being turned away at events, cannot travel, cannot attend occasions with large crowds...etc. When 80% of the population are fully vaccinated and COVID becomes an endemic disease, the gahment will start to take away healthcare subsidies from those who choose not to take vaccines and become sick from COVID or even make vaccination mandatory. When the time comes, all the antivaxxers here will KPKB to high heaven and it won't make a scrap of difference.

The science and data clearly show evidence that vaccinations are safe and protect 95%. Even if breakthrough infections occur, the vaccines protect against serious illness or death at 98%. If, for whatever reasons, the idiots choose not to believe in science, it's only fair that they pay from their own pocket if they fall ill from COVID.

Living in a post pandemic world has conditions. It's only fair. Trying to sneak past vaccinations and still want to enjoy a post-pandemic world at the expense of the vaccinated ain't going to happen.

SINGAPORE - A 69-year-old Singaporean died from complications due to Covid-19 on Wednesday (Aug 11).
The man, who was not vaccinated, developed symptoms on July 28 and was admitted to Tan Tock Seng Hospital the next day, where he tested positive for the coronavrius, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Wednesday night in its daily update.
He had a history of stroke, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and high cholesterol, and is the 43rd death from the disease here.
Three new clusters were also announced by the ministry. One is at Superland Pre-School in Kreta Ayer Community Centre, with four cases linked to it.
The other two are linked to two cases, and have a total of nine infections linked to them.
A total of 63 new cases were announced on Wednesday. Two of these were imported, while the other 61 are locally transmitted.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 17 are currently unlinked.
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has decreased from 758 cases in the week before last to 448 cases in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also fallen from 227 cases in the week before last week, to 129 cases in the past week.
Currently, 508 cases are warded in hospital. There are 35 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and eight people are in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This is a drop from 11 in the ICU on Tuesday. Out of the 43 cases, seven are fully vaccinated.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 36 are seniors above 60 years of age, of whom 29 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
"There is continuing evidence that almost all fully vaccinated individuals do not suffer serious disease when infected, unless if they had underlying medical conditions that made them more susceptible," said MOH.
It added that over the last 28 days, 8.7 per cent of those who are unvaccinated became severely ill or died, while the proportion of those fully vaccinated in this category is 0.9 per cent.
As at Aug 10, a total of 8,193,151 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,383,631 individuals, with 3,936,162 people having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 138,879 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organisation's Emergency Use Listing have been administered as of Aug 10, covering 82,406 individuals.
In total, 72 per cent of those here have completed received two doses of the vaccines, and 81 per cent have received at least one dose.

If an unvaccinated old person dies, the cause is because the person was unvaccinated, not because of the person's history of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, diabetes mellitus, hypertension etc.

SINGAPORE - A 90-year-old man who was fully vaccinated but had a history of chronic kidney disease and hypertension died from Covid-19 complications on Tuesday (Aug 17), the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.
He is the first fully vaccinated person to die from issues linked to Covid-19 in Singapore.
The man developed symptoms on July 29 and tested positive for Covid-19 on Aug 1 as part of community surveillance testing.
On Aug 2, he developed shortness of breath and giddiness, and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was admitted directly to the intensive care unit for septic shock from Covid-19 pneumonia.
He had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, but was advanced in age and had a history of chronic kidney disease and hypertension, said MOH in its daily update.
In total, 45 people have died from complications due to the Covid-19 infection.

No new clusters were announced on Tuesday.
The cluster linked to a dormitory located at 43 Sungei Kadut Loop grew to 14, with one new case added to its tally.
There were a total of 56 new infections reported on Tuesday, and of these, 52 were locally transmitted.
Of the local cases, 35 were linked to previous cases and already quarantined, and another three linked cases were not in quarantine when they tested positive.

A total of 14 cases remain unlinked.
There were four imported cases that were detected and isolated upon arrival in Singapore.
MOH also said six clusters have been closed.
With that, there are now 93 active clusters, ranging between three and 1,155 infections.

MOH also said the number of new cases in the community has fallen from 481 the week before to 322 in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases has decreased from 135 to 91 in the same period.
Currently, 404 patients are in hospital. Most are well and under observation, said MOH.
Of them, 30 require oxygen supplementation, while six are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Of the seriously ill, 31 are seniors aged above 60, and of them, 25 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

MOH said there is continuing evidence that almost all fully vaccinated individuals do not suffer serious disease when infected, unless they have underlying medical conditions that make them more susceptible.
Over the past 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated people who became severely ill or died is 9.6 per cent, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.4 per cent, the ministry added.
On the country's vaccination progress, MOH said 76 per cent of Singapore's population were fully vaccinated as at Sunday, while 82 per cent had received at least one dose.
A total of 8,464,972 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme, covering 4,440,268 people, with 4,155,680 people having completed the full vaccination regimen.
