Police in Guangzhou have carried out their biggest drug raids of the year, deploying hundreds of officers to arrest 67 suspects, according to a newspaper report.
About 800 police raided two drug dens in the Panyu district of the city early on Wednesday morning, the New Express reported.
Officers used three drones at night to gather intelligence about the drug operations as it was difficult to get near the sites, which were guarded and had security cameras.
Four guns and large numbers of knives were seized in the raids, the report said.
Police had been tipped off that a gang was running casinos, distributing drugs and controlling construction sites in the Panyu district.
They were also alerted last October after workers at one building site were attacked.
The officers who took part in the raids also came from Shenzhen and Hunan province.
The investigation is continuing.
