Hit-and-run driver sentenced to 12 weeks' jail

SINGAPORE: The supervisor who knocked down a pair of 12-year-old twin boys in a hit-and-run accident along Tampines Avenue 7 was sentenced to 12 weeks' jail and fined S$600 on Thursday.
Thirty-three-year-old Tong Chee Wei was also banned from driving for three years.
Tong had hit the two boys in July last year.
One boy fractured his elbow, knee and pelvis while the other suffered multiple abrasions and lost a tooth.
Tong was convicted of four charges under the Road Traffic Act, including driving whilst under disqualification and failure to stop his car after the accident happened.
One other charge of failure to render assistance was taken into consideration.
