SINGAPORE - A 34-year-old man was swiftly arrested by Traffic Police after two accidents involving nine vehicles and a pedestrian at Bedok Reservoir Road and Tampines Avenue 10.

Police received a call involving an accident involving eight stationary vehicles and one pedestrian at the carpark of Block 742, Bedok Reservoir Road on Feb 5, 2013, at about 9.30am.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the male driver of one saloon car was making a right turn when his vehicle hit onto the eight stationary vehicles. As a result of the accident, a 53-year-old pedestrian was injured and was conveyed to Changi General Hospital.

The said driver did not stop and fled from the accident scene.

Upon the arrival of Traffic Police at the accident scene, a witness came forward and provided brief information of the car believed to be involved in the hit-and-run accident.

Immediately, an alert with the make and model of the involved vehicle was issued.

About 15min later at 9.45am, the said vehicle was believed to be have crashed into the rear of a lorry along Tampines Avenue 10.

Police placed the driver under arrest at the scene as the vehicle matched the description as provided in the alert.

Investigations are ongoing against the driver for hit-and-run offences.
