British politicians and Party Leaders are embarrassed by recommendations from an independent commission to raise their salaries by 11% to £ 74,000 ( SGD 148,000 ) per year. They currently earn £ 66,396 ( SGD 133,000). In case you are wondering, no, they are not ashamed that the figure is so low. They are embarrassed to take that money and some indicate they want to turn it down. The reason being that ordinary workers are getting nowhere near that kind of raise in the country.
While the door is still open they should migrate to Singapore where a junior minister can earn that kind of money in a month. No embarrassment, real or feigned, will be necessary.
