Woman was a part-time KTV hostess

THE woman whose body was found in the lap pool of a Sentosa Cove bungalow on Wednesday was moonlighting as a part-time karaoke hostess in a number of KTV lounges in Havelock Road.

Chinese national Li Hong Yan, 24, whose day job was as a catering supervisor in an Indian restaurant, had told her employer that she was going back to China on Feb 6 for the Chinese New Year.

She had not said when she would return, and her work permit still identifies her as an employee of the restaurant in Jalan Besar, said her employer, who refused to be named.

Happen to be at waterloo street doing some bank transaction yesterday lunch time, was told by the counter staff to wait for 15min to half an hour. Went out for a quick puff and saw this gal leaning on my car talking on her phone. The moment she lift up her head, I was WOW..... Not bad leh. She smile back and say sorrie, I told her to carry on leaning in a joking way. We chatted awhile and got to know that she just arrived 3 weeks ago working at the Bank which I just went. From the last report we read, he was not even held by the police, and was apparently staying in his father's "3 story house". We don't know whether he was questioned and for how long.
His car was parked in the driveway, the curtains were drawn, the lights were off, nobody replied to calls made to his handphone.
Based on the reports so far, there were apparently "no visible signs of injury" on her body. If this is true, the likely story is that she went for a swim in the nude and drowned due to some mishap, while he was alseep. Even if that is not what happened, that will probably be what he claims.
My guess is that all he will get out of this incident is some publicity, not even necessarily bad, since he is unmarried and not a politician.
Another guess is that this story will slowly fade away from media reports and from our minds as the days go by. I really hope the chinese press keeps on the case, because our english press probably will not.
