Crisis club Valencia ‘giving players IOU notes which expire in September 2021 as they can’t afford to pay wages’

They have already been forced to sell star players Francis Coquelin and Dani Parejo for bargain fees - causing widespread anger among supporters.

Both players joined league rivals Villarreal for a combined fee in the region of £12million to ensure they are off the wage bill.

But the problems appear a lot more serious than first feared following Marca's latest revelation.

They write how the players were forced to forgo their latest pay packets and were left angered when they were instead given IOU's with an expiry date of September 2021.

The club reportedly attempted to reassure the players that it was down to an administrative error and they will be paid by the end of next month.

However, president Anil Murthy failed to show up to a team meeting on Monday which was arranged to share the financial predicament with the players causing further frustration among the ranks.

It was revealed the club have been forced to put every single player except Jose Gaya on the transfer list in a desperate bid to raise funds.

Valencia also sold promising youngster Ferran Torres, believed to be one of the brightest hopes in Spanish football, to Manchester City earlier this month for a bargain £20.8m.

Owner Peter Lim has recently received criticism from the city's vice mayor for failing to fund the construction of the club's unfinished Nou Mestalla stadium.

Didn't Peter Lim get divorced? A chunk of his net worth must have been handed over to his ex-wife.

Another classic example of a football club being ruined by a fucktard owner.

Football/Soccer is all about money now.

The stupid FIFA and UEFA have made it like that.

Richest owners just buy the best players and managers and win. Nothing to stop them. No fair play no chance for underdogs.

Rich man's game (owners).

Which is also why some of these fucktards want to own a football club. It is like a status symbol. Until they send the club relegated and totally destroyed.

Idiot Peter Lim lost his Midas touch. Buying a football only makes sense if he bought popular ones. When’s the last time u seen someone wear a Valencia jersey?

must keep personal finances separate from club finances. club must make money or scratch it by staying alive. no point sacrificing personal finances to fund a sinking ship. best is to let it go or sell it during times of wuhan virus.

Football club is a black hole for investment. You think winning the champions league or premier league is enough to keep your coffers full? No way. The bulk of the money comes from the networks licensing and merchandising, image rights etc.

Valencia doesn’t have any player who is a superstar. If they had a Cristiano Ronaldo , that will be a very different story. I read somewhere that Peter Lim owns the image rights of Ronaldo though.

Maybe that's where a lot of his money went. I am sure buying the rights to Cristiano Ronaldo's image is going to be expensive!
