MIRI, MALAYSIA: Police have arrested more than three dozen "professional foot masseuse" hailing from China and Indonesia during raids at several foot-massage centres in the city here after finding that they had been massaging more than the feet of their male clients.
During the raids -- carried out late at night and in the wee hours over the weekend -- many of these masseuse were found naked with similarly-unclad men. Police have nabbed them for alleged prostitution, Miri Police Chief Asst Comm Jamaluddin Ibrahim said Monday. "We are carrying out in-depth investigations into the activities of these centres," he said. As many as 38 people were arrested at one massage centre, including both masseuse and their clients. The clients were released after having their statements taken, but the masseuse have been detained in the Miri Central Police station lock-up. They have been remanded pending further investigation.
