<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> A BURGLAR fell to his death from the fifth-floor kitchen window to escape from police who had arrived at the scene, a coroner's court heard on Tuesday. Sahlan Eksan, 42, unemployed, had broken into the flat at Block 34 Telok Blangah Way on Feb 26, barely two months after his release from prison.
He was convicted and jailed for 14 months in Feb last year for causing hurt to a public servant, obscene film and fraudulent possession. A coroner's inquiry heard that two cops arrived at the block following a call at about noon that a man had climbed into a unit through a window.
On seeing Sahlan looking out of the unit's missing window panel, the officers ordered him to come out but he walked towards the kitchen and climbed out of the window ledge. His body was found on the ground level and he was pronounced dead shortly. Tucked in his briefs was a digital camera belonging to an occupant of the unit. State Coroner Victor Yeo recorded a verdict of misadventure on his death.
