Fined $3,000 for casino offences

A CHINESE national who stole casino chips and used someone else's work permit as supporting evidence of his age was fined a total of $3,000 on Tuesday. Zhou Liang, 20, a milling machine operator, who pleaded guilty, stole two pieces of $25 Marina Bay Sands chips from an unknown man at a Sic Bo - an Asian dice game - table on Sept 11. As a minor, he was not allowed into the casino, but he used the work permit of one Xia Feng to enter the previous day.
The court that the victim placed a bet at the Sic Bo table and had wanted to claim his wager and winnings when he found the chips missing. He alerted the gaming pit manager, who reported it to the surveillance manager. Closed-circuit television footage showed Zhou dishonestly removing the victim's wager and winnings amounting to $50. Zhou was arrested when he returned to the casino the next day.
