Ex-lecturer faces graft charges
By Elena Chong
A FORMER lecturer at a private school was charged on Monday with getting bribes from students in return for divulging examination questions. Isabelle Krishnan, 38, was an English language lecturer with the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) when she allegedly obtained a $450 bribe from each of the three students for divulging the questions set for the upper intermediate level English examination to be held by the institute on Oct 14 last year. The alleged offences took place at a flat in Canberra Link between last September and October. She was represented by a lawyer who will be making representations to the Attorney-General's Chambers. A pre-trial conference has been set for Nov 4. If convicted, she faces a fine of up to $100,000 and/or a jail term of up to five years on each charge.
