A former allied educator, who stole $1,845 from a teacher, was fined $6,000 on Wednesday.
Nor Hafizah Mohamed Salim, 29, now unemployed, was working at St Andrew's Secondary School when she stole the money from the staff room of the school on May 12 last year.
A district court heard that Nor Hafizah had returned to her workplace to retrieve her iPad when she decided to put some documents on the other teacher's table.
She noticed a key on top of the table. Knowing that there was likely to be some money in an envelope in the locked drawer, she used the key to open the drawer and remove the envelope containing $1,845.
She subsequently used all the money which was meant for school activities.
Nor Hafizah, who has made full restitution, could have been jailed for up to three years and/or fined.
